What is the style of Yoga taught at TLC's

The YogaFit style primarily combines elements of Hatha yoga with traditional fitness.

YogaFit provides a balanced, total mind/body workout…

work-out … sweat, build strength without strain or bulk---can be a “cardio workout”

balanced … works all muscle groups evenly in each session

body/mind … works the mental muscle to increase willpower, determination, endurance.

YogaFit is not a religion, specific philosophy, or type of meditation.

YogaFit is adapted for every “body, age, and activity level”

YogaFit is designed for the athlete, the sports-minded, the non-exerciser, the injured, kids, plus sizes, the more mature, restorative options, pre and postnatal.

Does one or more of these stressors fit your lifestyle?

Do you work furiously with your mind and not your body?

Do you keep long hours and deadlines?

Do you deal with finances, politics, and confinement?

Do you stand in one position for most of the day?

Do you sit for 8-10 hours or more per day?

Do you live in a world of high tech, fast pace achievers?

Do you use these coping mechanisms excessively and regularly?

caffeine ~tobacco ~food ~alcohol ~exercising too much, too little, starting & stopping

misuse prescription & OTC medications ~having a “go until you drop” approach

Do you primarily nurture others in your relationships?

Do you have a daily practice to nurture your self physically and mentally?

Are you a caregiver in your profession or lifestyle?

Do you know that stress is the leading cause of disease and depression in our culture?

Stress needs to be released both physically and mentally consistently.

Most stress is a mental pressure exerted onto our physical bodies.

Stress is the most destructive factor in the aging process.

Stress is habitual fear at the physical level.

Stress in excess, having an extended period of “fight or flight syndrome” leads to Dis-Ease.

Stress is not created by the events and people in our lives but the way we react to them.

Most employee turnover and absenteeism are results of stress that does not get released.

What makes the regular practice of Yoga unique?

The nature of the practice is multifaceted … releasing physical & psychological stress at the SAME TIME.

Yoga postures combined with deep breathing facilitate deep relaxation.

You choose the options that focus on benefits you desire.

Yoga is EASY…without pain or injury at any level.

Results will be visible within a few weeks with regular practice.

Benefits are astonishing and lifelong.

Equipment is the easiest and least expensive of most … comfortable, fitted clothing, no shoes, a mat, chair, blanket.

Doing less is gaining more.

What are the benefits of Yoga soon after starting and maintaining a yoga practice?

Significantly improving posture.

Prevents injuries by keeping muscles supple.

Increasing flexibility & restoring joint mobility.

Counteracting brain aging ... more mental clarity, focus, memory

Enhancing willpower, determination and discipline.

Visibly reducing stress.

Increasing body awareness.

Natural weight loss.

Strengthening the immune system, thereby decreasing illness.

Minimizes physical effects of aging by ... increasing energy, bone mass/density, muscle mass & strength, cardio health, flexibility, core strength, foot health, range of motion, lung capacity and balance.

Decreasing blood pressure, back pain, fat mass, cholesterol levels and appetite.

Improving overall health and vitality … massages internal organ systems.

How much do I need to practice Yoga?

Three times per week, 45 to 60 minutes to achieve maximum results.

Five minutes of Yoga is better than none, if you are breathing well, you are doing “Yoga”!

The more consistently one practices, the more benefits.

Getting to the mat is the most uneasy part of Yoga.

Learning to incorporate changes in one’s daily lifestyle becomes the goal.

About the instructor … Sharing my path to Yoga & Teaching ...

My journey to Yoga began in the 80”s with a video named the “Unexercise Workout” by Dixie Carter.  I was in the “running, racing” stage of my life ... raising a family, working as an RN for the next 30 years.  Then I began the “do less, be more” stage ... finding mental and physical strength, combating burnout, creating endurance, vitality, and so much more.

I discovered the secret of step by step building, choosing my own pace and benefits.  I began implementing daily lifestyle changes, with enormous lifetime benefits without pain or injury!  I found the “Fountain of Youth”… discovering the natural power within me both mentally and physically.  As I had witnessed so much disease, mental and physical in my medical career, I am passionately motivated to provide a balanced, safe, and preventive healthcare option that anyone can do ... Teaching to any Body, Age or Activity Level ...

We teach you to use many different options by using multiple adaptive tools----your own body, a blanket, a chair, a strap, your mat, a block.  This allows you to choose WHAT YOU DESIRE at your own pace and ability level. WHAT DO YOU DESIRE more balance, more strength, more cardio, more flexibility, more relaxation & restoration, more vitality, more overall health to all systems of your body or concentrate on one, like a  respiratory illness such as asthma, more mental clarity, focus, more youthful qualities, less depression, less stress related symptoms --- The greatest news is you can receive all these benefits at the same time in one session.  We gear you to receive maximum results by using different breathing techniques, using a gradual process without pain or injury.  We also teach you how to take these practices and incorporate them into your daily lifestyle easily, in as little as 5 min.

Warm-up for Skiing & Snowboarding ...

Don't hit the slopes "cold turkey"!!!  Prevent soreness and injuries, and enjoy much more.  Yoga can  be a primary full mind/body workout or a supplement to whatever you are already doing.  Or it can be a jump-start!!!  We work on generalized cardio and muscle strengthening to condition your body gradually at whatever level you need. We learn breathing techniques that will expand your breathing ability.     We focus on the problems one may have when skiing, snowboarding regularly---tight hips, ligaments, and hamstrings: and back pain.  Thereby, we concentrate on hip openers, upper body strengtheners, and chest openers.  You can receive your maximum benefit by practicing yoga 3x's per week.

A WINTER SPORTS SPECIAL:  attend  3 classes per week and receive 1 class FREE!!
